東京ノーヴイ・レパートリーシアター ー２０１６年６月 能楽堂公演初演舞台を収録ー ＜演出より＞ 私は「古事記」も「ギリシャ悲劇」も、神話として同じだと思っています。 人類が抱えている深刻な問題や不安。 その根を見つけるには、それぞれの国の神話を知る事。 すべてはそこから始まっています。 古代の文化、東西の文化の融合に意味があり、 私はそれにかかわりたいと思っています。 芸術監督 レオニード・アニシモフ （ロシア功労芸術家） ＜物語の背景＞ コルキス（現在のジョージア西部）の王女メディアは、アルゴス船を率いて現れたイオルコスの王子イアソンに一目惚れしてしまう。イアソンは幼くして死別した父の王位を伯父から継承するために伝説の黄金の毛皮を入手するためにやってきたのだ。 メディアは国王である父を裏切り、弟を殺し故国を捨ててまでも惚れた男の野望を助け、黄金の毛皮を手にイオルコスに向かうが、伯父はイアソンに王位を譲る気など初めからなかった。 ここでもまたメディアは愛する男のために殺人を犯してしまう。結果、イオルコスにもいられなく二人は流浪人となり、ギリシャの都市国家コリントスで二人の子供を成し、静かに暮らしていた。 貿易で大いなる繁栄を遂げていたコリントス国王クレオンは、更なる国の発展のためにイアソンに娘のクラウケーとの政略結婚を持ちかけた。 権力と財力に惹かれたイアソンはその縁組を承諾してしまう。
